Businesses and Stores

Many of Coquitlam's earliest businesses were located in Maillardville and the Brunette area. Below are images from these stores, including Pett's Meat and Grocery (which started as a general store, then became a butcher shop, and next utilised automobiles to serve the community), the Al Best Service Station, the Jubilee Hotel (later the French Quarter Pub), Ben and Fred Quadling's Gas Station, Louis Boileau's Post Hall and Banker Shop (one of the first shops in Fraser Mills), Miss Le Roux Confectionery Store, and George Proulx's general store. Many of these businesses no longer exist, but were very successful in Coquitlam’s first fifty years.
